Female Stereotypes in Disneys Film

All oh these princesses were invented by Disney and as we can see, all of them are finth, pretty and young

On the video, we can see that all of these princesses are smiling, when Snow White get in the dwarves' house, she saw the mess in it, and she asks to the presents animals "You'd think their mother would clean?" first, in her opinion, men do not have to clean up the environment, it's a women's work, but also, she  washes the ground naturally, like every women should do it too.

But cleaning, washing and being happy to do it isn't enough, indeed, they have to be pretty without any default on their faces and bodies, we can look at the surrealistic fineness of Ariel hips. Actually this Disney shows that women don't have to talk or being clever to loved.

In Disney's mind, princesses, and women in general, only dream to be married, they are waiting for for the Great love, and sometimes, they can not choose who will it be. The beauty and the Beast is the perfect example of this weird kind of relationship. Belle is selled for the freedom of her father, and she is constrained to live with the beast. Women are submissives to men.

These are few examples in comparison of all of the Disney's films and their naives princesses, but at the moment, some news and moderns heroin are create, like Vaiana or Rebel, a new generation of disney's princesses is born for children who watch Disney's films while they are very young and can define their personalities.

REVIEW : El Dorado

    El Dorado, (1966)

El Dorado is a movie directed and produced by Howard Hawks, also known as the director of Scarface, Bringing Up Baby or Rio Bravo. He was a famous American director and producer. In 1974, he received an Honorary Acadamy Award as "a master American filmmaker whose creative efforts hold a distinguised place in world cinema". Thanks to his work, he has influenced a lot of popular directors such as Martin Scorsese or Robert Altman. He was qualified as "the greatest American director who is not a housesold name" - Leonard Maltin. But sadly, he died in 1977 because of a stroke.

I can tell that El Dorado is a well-known classic western because that movie is showing a saloon, there is a sherrif men riding horses - the poster of the movie shows it too, the enemy, a duel between the main character and the enemy. The main character wears a cowboy hat and possesses a gun. It shows the desert and all the landscape too. It was shot in Tucson, Arizona. Howard Hawks wanted to create a simple story like Rio Bravo, he is also the director of that movie. That's why I can compare those two movies because their stories are pretty similar and we find the same items and almost the same plot in both movies.

The plot is about a gunfighter who comes to El Dorado to find an old friend - the sherrif -. With an Indian fighter and gambler, they help another rancher and his family to stop and fight a rival rancher who tries to steal their water. The plot is actually easy to understand because at the beginning of the movie, for about an hour, we discover the universe, the characters and the plot so it's easy to follow. I don't think I can tell that is it believable because we don't actually see those kind of fights and all that stuff in real life but it's not impossible.

This movie is starring John Wayne as Cole Thornton, who played in a lot of westerns. He is one of the main characters. He is a gunfighter, he is brave and courageous. When he comes to El Dorado to find his old friend (the sherrif), he meets an old Indian fighter. He will help Cole Thorton on his mission and help the MacDonalds. John Wayne is good at his acting because it isn't his first time playing this kind of character since he played in a lot of westerns.

The other main character of this movie is the sherrif J.P. Harrah played by Robert Mitchum. So he is the sheriff of the town, the old friend of Cole Thornton. He became alcoholic because of a heartbreak. He will also help the others with the case of the MacDonalds. Mitchum is good at his acting too.

I don't really love that movie because it's not the kind of movie I usually watch. But it wasn't that horrible so it wasn't too annoying, and after all, I can tell it was an interesting story. I would recommend that movie to people who really like the western genre. If you don't like those kind of movies, obviously you won't like that one too. To conclude, on a scale of 1 to 10, I would give 5 because it wasn't so bad but it's not my genre.

The mains actors are: Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L.Jackson and Kerry Washington.

The summary is: A former slave joins a bounty hunter of German origin, who released him he agrees to hunt with him, wanted criminals. In exchange, he will help her find her long-lost wife who is a slave too.

Quentin Tarantino decided to place his western in the period of slavery. He would have say : “I'd like to do a western, but rather than situate it in Texas, let's do it at the time of slavery.”

Jane Got A Gun

Jane Got A Gun

Gavin O'Connor is the director of this film. He was born in 1964, he is not only a director but also movie producer, scriptwriter and American actor. Gavin O'Connor is also known for the movie "warrior" or "Le prix de la loyauté".

This movie is an American-British western but also dramatic and action movie released in 2015. The main actors are Natalie Portman, Joel Edgerton, Ewan McGregor and Rodrigo Santoro. Natalie Portman plays the role of Jane Hammond, the wife of Bill Hammond play by Noah Emmerich. The couple are part former associates to John Bishop (Ewan McGregor), they fled together for to live their love serenely. However John Bishop and these associates will look for years in vain. But one day Bill goes home with his horse in poor health, riddled with bullets, Bishop fond him, he's coming. It is then that Jane decided to seek the help of his former engaged in order to escape to certain death.

This movie carries a message towards courage and strength of all women, he puts forward the women who is fighting to save his family. This movie shows that the women knows how to defend herself and that we can fear her as much as a man. The women is not inferior!

It's a movie with an easy-to-follow storyline. The story is credible and could be very real.

At the characters level, they are all very professional, no missteps, the roles that are assigned to them match them wonderfully.

- Jane is a woman with incredible courage and strength of character but she is also very beautiful physically.

- Dan Frost behind his tunes of hard is a man with a big heart.

- And John Bishop is the "Great villan" of history, interpreted by Ewan McGregor is a man without any mercy, resentful, and also an outlaw.

I really liked this movie, yet I'm not a fan of westerns, however the importance of the role given to the woman is so satisfying. The atmosphere, the decorations, everything I really liked. It is really very interesting and realistic of his time. The only negative point is perhaps that it is extremely realsitic in everything, as for example in murders it may be a little shocking at this level for sensitive souls.

I highly recommend this movie for those who love action movie but you must have a good heart !

You have to watch it, because to my knowledge this is the only western that highlights the courage of a woman, and it's important to make this film known for this special attention to women.

Jane Got a Gun

This film is directed by david o'connor. Release date: January 27, 2016

O'connor: born in 1964 on long island, newyork, usa. He has a passion for cinema at the University of Pennsylvania. This man is a director, film producer, screenwriter, American actor.

Jane got a gun is a western but also a drama and action film, it sends a message because in the days of cowboys women were even less considered as equal to men. In this film, it is the wife, so Jane the main character takes control of her own life and only listens to her to help her husband.

Cheyennes

I chose the movie Cheyennes as a western.

This movie was written by Mari Sandoz as well as James.R Webb and directed by John Ford in 1964.The actors in the film are Carroll Baker (Deborah Wright), Arthur Kennedy (Doc Holliday), James Stewart (Wyatt Earp), Karl Malden (Captain Wessel), Richard Widmack (Captain Thomas Archer) and many more.

It takes place in 1878, Cheyenne leave their territory against promises that the cowboys do not hold so they decide to return despite the prohibitions.

They are therefore pursued by Captain Archer.

I chose this film because it is one of the only ones to tell the true nature of the Cheyenne, which was a peaceful tribe. He shows it very well as well as the tensions that exist within the tribe between the young generation that is not afraid to use force and the elderly, who remain wise and want to keep the peace.According to me it uses the codes of the westerns and does not add anything, it shows how it was without too much artifice.

I like this film because it does not look like the others, it does not denounce the violence of the Indians but on the contrary the violence that some cowboys have them and therefore the reactions of the Indians towards this one.

Once upon a time in the West

I have to work on the movie "IL ETAIT UNE FOIS DANS L'OUEST".

He has 4 stars at the level of the press and 4.4 at the level of the spetateur.

The director of the movie is Sergio Leone.

It is a scriptwriter and a director.

He was born January 3rd, 1929 has Rome and died on April 30th, 1989.

Leone manages to stand out among the big directors thanks to its innovative style, by its direction, and by the use of the music.

It is about a movie of traditional western.

While he prepares a party for his wife, Bet McBain is killed with her three children. Jill McBain inherits then lands of her husband, lands which desires Morton, the sponsor of the crime (these have some maintaining value that the railroad has to pass there). But the suspicions concern to an adventurer, Cheyenne ...

Morton interpretation by Gabriele Ferzetti

Yes, they play very well their roles

There is in "Il etait une fois dans louest " all that I need to prove to whom it is that the depth of a man or a woman, a past history or to come, does not live in the quantity of things which is said, but in what gets free of human heat, this credible context where the constructions of railroads let glimpse the crepuscular ride of the capitalists, wherever the image send back every character is idealized by the perfect camera of Leone.

Yes I recommend this movie because he learns full of things on the time of the western

Cowboys wanted

I choose the western named Django Unchained, which takes place in Quebec, and realised by Quentin Tarantino in 2012. This movie begin in the Texas, in 1858, where an unchained slaves' daughter walks with Ace and Dicky Speck. The brothers are stopped by Dr. King Schultz,a German dentist turned bounty hunter who asks to buy one of the slaves. He questions Django about his knowledge of the Brittle brothers, a trio of outlaws for whom Schultz is carrying a warrant. In 1859, Django and Schultz travel to Mississippi.where they learn the identity of Broomhilda's new owner: Calvin J. Candie, the charming but cruel owner of the Candyland plantation, where slaves are forced to fight to the death in brutal wrestling matches called "Mandingo fights". Schultz and Django meet Calvin at his gentleman's club in Greenville,  and offer $12,000 for one of his best fighters. however, their ulterior motive is to purchase Broomhilda. Intrigued, Calvin invites them to Candyland. When Calvin's mourners return from his burial, Django kills Lara and the remaining henchmen, releases the two remaining house slaves, and kneecaps Stephen before igniting the dynamite that he has planted throughout the mansion. Django and Broomhilda watch from a distance as the mansion explodes, killing Stephen, before riding off together.Django spends time as a bounty hunter like Schultz while searching for his wife from whom he had been separated. He eventually discovers that the owner of his wife is Calvin Candie  a prominent Southern slave owner. Django and Schultz head to Candie's plantation, Candyland, to free Broomhilda.

Quentin Tarantino was born on the March 27, 1963, he is an American director, writer, and actor. His films are characterized by nonlinear storylines satirical subject matter; an aestheticization of violence; extended scenes of dialogue;ensemble casts consisting of established and lesser-known performers; references to popular culture and a wide variety of other films; soundtracks primarily containing songs and score pieces from the 1960s to the 1980s; and features of neo-noir film. His career began in the late 1980s when he wrote and directed My Best Friends' Birthday. In the early 1990s, he began his career as an independent filmmaker with the release of Reservoir Dogs in 1992,, a black comedy crime film that was a major success both among critics and audiences. Judged the greatest film from 1983–2008 many critics and scholars have named it one of the most significant works of modern cinema For his next effort, Tarantino paid homage to the blaxploitation films of the 1970s with Jackie Brown (1997), an adaptation of the novel Rum Punch.

The Duel

The Duel is a modern western. It was released in June 2016 by Kieran Darcy Smith, Who is an Australian actor, a screenwriter and a film director. He was born on 12 june 1965 in Mona Vale,   at Sydney.

The film is a drama. Which begins with an explanation that conveys the context of the movie. It says that in 1946, there was a bloody war with Mexico, over the newly disputed state of Texas. The Río Gronde is a border between the two countries. The tension continued all the while the settlers pushed into land long held by the Indians and Mexicans. The task of maintaining order fell mainly upon a group of men who answered to their own code of law, The Texas Ranger.

The codes of the Western are respected because there are weapons, horses, territory, a Sherif as well as decor is typical of The West. The hero is the man of action ; the violence is not at the heart of the Western but in the man.

The main characters are Abraham Brant, the Preacher of Mount Hermon, and Marisol Who is the wife of David Kingstom, this latter is a Texas Ranger. Abraham was killed the father of David, 22 years ago. But that is not why David leaves for his meeting... The governor gives a mission to Davis to determine if Abraham is the one that he claims to be. This latter, Abraham is responsable for some terrible things. That’s why, Kingstom has a new name, David Loke, so that he is not recognized. His wife, Marisol, wants to accompagny him in Mount Hermon. She is involved with her husband. At the end, she accepts that his wife accompanies him. Unfortunately for her, she becomes sick... She didn’t just want to be alone.

I chose this movie because I think this western is typical considering the action and reflexion. The history is interesting, and the intrigue stresses the wickedness of the Preacher Abraham Brant and the courage of David Kingstom. He shows no pity for the others just like Abraham. Moreover, David never hesitates to take out his weapons to restor order because Abraham appoints him Sherif !

THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY

THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is a feature film which was liked by a lot of person.

It is a action/adventure/ western film that the press really liked.

Sergio Leone is an Italian director and screenwriter, born on January 3, 1929 in Rome, where he died on April 30, 1989. Father of the spaghetti western (which he popularizes largely without inventing it), he makes the films « For a handful of dollars », and « The Good, the Bad and the Ugly » who are often considered classics of movies, films that reveal the actor Clint Eastwood and the composer Ennio Morricone. While he was appreciated by the public, but shunned by critics during his lifetime, his importance in the history of cinema is very recognized. Leone succeeds in establishing himself among the great directors thanks to his innovative style, his staging, and the use of music, composed by his collaborator and friend Ennio Morricone. Several important directors recognize the influence he has had on their work or the admiration they have for him, first and foremost Quentin Tarantino.

It is considered as one of the most famous western of all time, more particularly of the "spaghetti western".

summary:

During the Civil War, three men search for a chest containing a lot of gold stolen from the southern army. Tuco ( one of the main characters ) knows that the treasure is in a cemetery and Joe knows the name written on the grave were the gold is. But a third man arrives in the story : Setenza, a brute who doesn't hesited to kill women and children to achieve his ends.

The plot is quite simple. To my mind, there is a lot of characters but as there are just three main characters it's quite easy to understand. The film is a western so I think it is not really believable.

There are three main characters:

The Good or the nameless man ( Clint Eastwood ) : who is searching the treasure. He becomes a friend of Tuco ( but their friendship is a bit weird ) who nicknamed him "Blondin" The Good knows the name of the grave were the treasure is buried.

The Bad ( Lee Van Cleef ) : His name is Sentenza ( "Eyes Angel" in America ). He is a mercenary who doesn't hesited to kill all people who want to discover the treasure he is looking for. He will be an enemy of Tuco and Blondin.

The Ugly ( Eli Wallach ) : Tuco is a bandit, a friend of Blondin. He knows the name of the cemetery were the treasure is hidden.

I think the three main actors are talented in their roles. I really liked this movie because the story is fascinating and the characters are endearing. However, to my mind, the film is a bit too long. I would recommand this film to everybody but mostly to people who like watching westerns.

We could compare this film to another one by the same director : "Once upon a time in the West" because the western vibes are the same.

The Homesman

The homesman movie take place in 1854. It tells the story of a man named George Briggs, on the brink of death he is saved by a woman named Mary Bee Cuddy, a strong and independent woman who launches into a long journey to lead three woman who lost their heads to the l'lowa where they could find shelter.

It's a dramatic western movie. In 2014, wins the Palme d'Or, the Cannes Film Festival's women's and men's awards and the festival's Grand Prix.

The movie is directed by Tommy Lee Jones an actor and director from Texas born December 15 in San Saba. He is well known in The Fugitive, Mad in Black and Space Cowboys. In the movie The Homesman he is also a screenwriter.

The film first shows us the place of women in the Western, Mary Bee Cuddy is not initially considered capable of executing this trip, finally she will not be able to because she commits suicide before the end of the trip. The man when he is considered solitary, at the beginning of the movie he does not seem to want to attach but will be very hurt by the death of his friend, he will finish the trip alone.

The film shows us many aspect of life in the west, we see the Indian attack, the strength of faith and the belief that this is what gives rise to the journey and also the difficult life they lead.

I really enjoyed this film because the story is interesting, we want to know the end and we are immersed in the suspense of the western universe.

The Duel

The Duel

The title of the film that I’ve watch  is The duel, he was released on June 24,2016.The director of this film is Kieran darcy smith, he is best know for the films The cave, The Square, Animal Kingdom and the reef, he is 53 years old and he is australian.

This film is a western, It's a type of film in which there are cowboys or gunfighters armed with a revolver or a riffle who rides a horse, bandits, a sheriff, sletters, farmers, the vaste landscape like a plain or a desert play an important role and most of the time, there is a saloon, ranch, and railways in the city. The Western was the most popular Hollywood genre from the early 20th century to the 1960s.

In 1881, David kingston, a texas ranger is sent by the 19th govenor of texas to investigate a series of murders and disappearances of Mexicans citizens in Mont Hermon. He is mostly here to search for Maria Calderon, she is missing and she is the niece of a mexican general who told them he would invade if they don't find her. In the town, there is a preacher and mayor named Abraham Brant who is keeping the inhabitants in some kind of fearful grip . When he arrives in the town, everyone is cold to him except Abraham who is in love with David's wife, Marisol. David hides his identity and Abraham offers him the role to be the town sheriff, whiwh he accepts so that could cover him for his investigation. While he explores the town and search for bodies, Abraham manipulates Marisol into becoming dependant on him. She then betray David ans tells all his secrets to Abraham but David learn about Abraham's secret which is that he is abducting mexicans to serve as pray for rich foreigners to hunt. Abraham aranges a fight between his son Isaac and David that ends by the death of Isaac. David manages to shoot Abraham while near the isolated compoun, pins Abraham’s leg under a boulder, Abraham cuts his own leg off and crawls to David. As he is about to cut David’s throat, Maria reappears and shoots Abraham dead. The Mexican general is grateful to David for getting Maria back. David is last seen riding off into the brush alone, staring up at the tree where Naomi was hanged from earlier. Maybe he's searching the area for clues of his wife Marisol.

The main characters are David, Marisol and Abraham.

David is played by Liam Hemsworth, he is 28 years old, he is australian, and he is an actor. To be honest, he is a pretty good actor, his role suits him well.

Marisol is played by Alice Braga, she is brazilian and she's 35 years old. I didn't really her as Marisol, I don't know, to me it seems like she was over reacting.

Abraham is played by Woody Harrelson, he is American ans he is 57 years old, his role suits him soooo well, in my opinion he is really a good actor even tho he is a older than the others, he is really good !!

I kind of enjoyed that film but to be honest it was kind of boring to me, I don't really like watching Westerns, they're not my favorite things to watch, I'm more into Science Fiction movies, but if you like that type of movie in which there are cowboys, a sheriff etc I 100% recommend it to you !! And if you don't really like western like me, I don't really recommend this movie because you'll easily get bored and won't probably watch it until the end, but if you've never watched a western before, you should try it and this movie is a good example to begin with !

So as you can see, I don't really like watching western, so that's why I can compare this film to another one because I don't remember the other that I've watched.

No Country For Old Men

NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN

The producers of this film are Joel Coen and Ethan Coen. Joel Coen (11/29/1954) and Ethan Coen (09/21/1957), also called the Coen brothers, are American filmmakers. Their films are very various with many genres and styles. Their most known works include Miller's Crossing (1990), Fargo (1996), The Big Lebowski (1998), No Country for Old Men (2007), True Grit (2010) and Inside Llewyn Davis (2013).

This film is a modern Western film, it learn us that the times have changed for the things that people fight for and how they fight, but violence is still here.

At the border between Texas and Mexico, cattle thieves has been replaced by drug dealers. When Llwelyn Moss find an abandoned van with bloody corpses around, he know nothing about what happened here. And when he takes the two million dollars that he discovered in the vehicule, he has no idea of the consequences. Moss has triggered a reaction of a great violence that the sheriff Bell, an old man without illusions, cannot contain.

The plot make sense. It is quite easy to follow as the story is not that hard to understand, It is even easier to understand when we read the plot before looking at the film. But they are many important characters tho, so you have to be careful to follow everything that happen and to understand why it happenned.

The characters are :

- Bell : Tommy Lee Jones

- Anton Chigurh : Anton Chigurh

- Llewelyn Moss : Josh Brolin

- Carson Wells : Woody Harrelson

- Carla Jean : Kelly MacDonald

- Wendell : Garret Dillahunt

- Loretta Bell : Tess Harper

This film uses the codes of the Western by making shots that we can recognise in many other Western films, like when the camera focus for around 20 second on a man who is just walking slowly. But this film also break the codes of a classical Western film by including drug dealers in it. It bring a modern part to the Western film.

I choosed this film because it was well rated on the internet, it was available on Netflix, and It's a recent film compared to many other Western films, and i prefer when It's more recent. I liked this film, but I'm not used to look at Western films so it was something new for me even if the modern part of this western made me think about some other things that I watched. The good point for me is the modern part of it, the fact that it is realistic and that I'm pretty sure things like this happen in some country today. For the bad points I can't say so much because I don't watch many films and I could not say if it was good or bad but the people's rate on it means a lot, it is a really good film.

I recommend this film, but not to everyone. People who like old western should like this because it's like an old western but with today's things in it. I don't recommend this film to people who don't like seeing violence and who don't like western of course. As I said, I am not a watcher of films, and even less western, i've never been interesed in it so I can't compare this film to another, but I've seen a serie on Netflix that has the same universe than this film, this is called "Sons Of Anarchy'.

The good, the bad and the ugly, by Sergio Leone

The good, the bad and the ugly was writen by Sergio Leone. (1929-1989)

He was an Italian director and is well known for having write a lot of well ranked movies like Once upon a time in the West and For a few dollars. Sergio Leone grew up in the cinema's world because he was the son if an actress, Bice Velerian and Roberto Roberti, one of Italy's cinema pioneers.

It is a spaghetti-western, in other words an Italian adventure movie imitating the American western but with a lot of free violence released in 1966. There is a lot of western's clichés.

During the Civil war, three gunfighters, Tuco, Sentenza known for being Angel eyes and Joe alias "blondi", looks after the gold of the soldier Bill Carson.  Each of them know one information about the place where it's hidden, it's in a cemetery. They want 50% of the gold, that mean only two of them can have the half. Angel Eyes wants to kill Tuco he know the location because of him and Blondi know the name on the grave. They are outlaws so they can't have trust in each other besides there are treasons. Tuco and Blondi were partnership and Angel Eyes was searching for Bill Carson. Tuco takes Bill Carson's identity due to his death. It's at that moment they known about the $200 000. Before that, they made criminal actions for having money like for example, contract killer.

-Tuco is "the ugly: who had a sweet side and exuberant. He has a strong personnality and he is expressive. He is played by Eli Wallach

-Sentenza is "the bad" because he can kills innocents and is organised in his job of killing people for dollars. We can see that from the beginning, he is cruel. He is played by Lee Van Cleef.

-Blondi is the good because he doesn't try to get revenge after what Tuco did to him, he is empathic  when he is in the battlefield but Blondi is an outlaw so he is not kind. He is palyed by Clint Eastwood.

The actors are really good, their roles are well played. Everyone can see the personnalities of the three outlaws who are very different.

I chose to watch The good, the bad and the ugly because the title was interresting. I do not regret, I really did enjoyed watching this nearly three hours movie, I adore the soundtrack who is well chosen, the musics start during the good parts and the sound effects are of good qualities. The duels are in a tense atmosphere in the beginning and in the end, the three stare each others during the duel. It show the tension of the situation and it show the good playing of the actors. It's easy to follow this movie even if there are lot of events, we know what happens during the parts. The movie is believable even if the deaths are exagerate.

I like the fact there is not a good people who fight against outlaws. It is just three outlaws on the quest of the $200 000. The beginning was long but there was music so it was great but after the music it was too much quiet for me, I like when there is a lot of actions. However it is a good western movie to watch!

The west in back to the future 3

Back to the future 3 is based on the time of the western, applaying all the possible shots that we spoke about when talking about cowboy. Indeed this science fiction film directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by himself and Bob Gale and published in 1990 take place in the time of the westerns.

Marty Mcfly the heroe of this story must to wear the cowboy clothes and we can see the stetson, a type of cowboy hat, the santiag an also type of boots, he weared a shirt with fringe and a cowboy trousers.

During the story we can see a lot of shots of the west such as a saloon where the cowboys can spending time with them and in this place the character are a little bit parody by the fact to drink the alcohol or when the outlaws enter in the saloon to fight the good guy. (mettre la vidéo)

Also their are influential men such as the sherrif who is present in every western or the outlaws who have a lot of bad influence on the citizens who are inspiring them with  fear. And the mayor  who have a lot of power on the town.

The director decided to put the in the film a fighting scene between Mcfly and the outlaw. It is a typical scene of a lot of westerns.

Sweet Country

Sweet Country

Sweet Country is a Australian western directed by Warwick Thornton in 2017. He is an Australian film director, screenwriter and cinematograper. With Sweet Country he won the Orizzonti Jury Special Prize at the Venice Film Festival and the renowned Platform Prize at the Toronto Film Festival.

Is set on the Northern Territory frontier in the 1920s, where justice itself is put on trial when an aged Aboriginal farmhand shoots a white man in self defense and goes on the run as posse gathers to hunt him down.

In the film happen the story of Sam Kelly, an aboriginal farm worker forced to do in the deep background when he became a lawyer for killing a white men for a self-defense. For the murder of a white man, Sam is now on the run from the law with his wife across the outback. This film is very credible because is inspired to real facts, happens beautiful shots of the wild plains of the outback and the austerity of places.

The mains characters are Sam Kelly by Hamilton Moriss, Fred Smith by Sam Neil, Lizzie Kelly by Natassia Gorey Furber, Sergeant Fletcher by Bryan Brown.

I recommend this film because the set, shot only outdoors, is filmed in a very classic way by the Australian filmmaker but with a real mastery that allows the film to develop beautiful its historical and social purpose. Better still, it is spreading important social values at the moment while admirably exposing the history of Australia and the racist tensions that have shaped its destiny but the end is predictable.

Western : One Hundred Dollars For A Sheriff

The Western The western is a cinematographic genre whose action usually takes place in North America, especially in the United States, during the western conquest.

One Hundred Dollars For A Sheriff or True Grit

"One hundred dollars for a sheriff" is an American western directed by Henry Hathaway, released in 1969. The film is adapted from a novel published in 1968, True Grit, written by Charles Portis. Henry Hathaway Henry Hathaway, whose real name is Henry Leopold of Fiennes, is an American director and producer. He was born on March 13, 1898 in Sacramento, California and died on February 11, 1985 in Los Angeles, USA, aged 86. He was the son of an actor and director, Rhody Hathaway (1868-1944) and an aristocrat, Marquise Lillie of Fiennes nicknamed Jean Hathaway. He is best known as a western director, often starring Randolph Scott and John Wayne. He won the Edgar-Allan-Poe Award for Best Screenplay in 1949, the Oscar for Best Director in 1936 and the British Academy Film Award for Best Picture in 1952. He will do many westerns such as "one hundred dollars for a sheriff", "The four sons of Katie Elder", "When hisses the last ball", "Five cards to shoot", etc ... The film Young but determined Mattie Ross works as an accountant at her father John's ranch. He decides to go buy hair, mustang ponies in Fort Smith. He is assassinated along the way by Tom Chaney his foreman. Mattie decides to avenge his father and hires Rooster Cogburn, a one-eyed federal sheriff who has guts and casual, expeditious manners and will be able to break into the Indian reserve where his father's murderer has taken refuge. Begins a long epic. Role distribution _ John Wayne plays Rooster Cogburn, a one-eyed federal cherif _ Glen Campbell plays the role of Mr Laboeuf, a Texas ranger who wants to rally Rooster Cogburn to his cause, the capture of the foreman _Kim Darby plays the role of Mattie Ross, a young accountant who wants to avenge the murder of his father and who hires Rooster Cogburn Western codes The western meets specific codes that are found in this film. Indeed, we find the cowboys and their outfits, the Indians, the orphan to protect, the sheriff as well as the dry and vast landscapes of American cities, the cut out mountains of Arizona, the Indian camps. He also uses objects such as the colt, the rifle, the arrows, the bow. We keep the means of transport like horses, carts. We also find duels, rides, fights, ambushes. My opinion This film is the director's last-to-last Western and remains for me one of it's better. This is the first film where John Wayne does not play the giant representing America conquering but a veil man one-eyed. The staging is not grandiose, but this film focuses largely on the game, the prowess of the actors. The character of John Wayne's character is great. I love this old sheriff grumpy alcoholic. A western that stays in the classic.

Movie review : Jane Got a Gun

  Jane Got a Gun, 2015, by Gavin O'Connor.  4,5/5

Jane Got a Gun is a movie by Gavin O'Connor, the script is writted by Brian Dufflied.

The movie was at the cinema in 2015 and it lasts 97 minutes.

The main actors are Natalie Portman, Joel Edgerton, Ewan McGregor, Noah Emmerich and Rodrigo Santoro.

It's a western and the movie shows that women can be powerful, strong and courageous and not weak and defenseless.

When his husband, Bill Hammond, a gangster is hurted by Bishop and his boys, Jane Ballard, a resourceful woman will try to save her family and her house with the help of her ex lover, Dan. Together they will fight against Bishop.

The plot is easy to follow and the story too, there is not strange and complicate to understand scene,

this movie could be real in real life because all the element are real and not fictitious.

The story is really interesting and makes you want to know the end,

I never got bored during the movie, there is a lot of action and always something to watch.

Let me introduce you the main characters:

Jane Ballard:

Played by Natalia Portmann,

Jane is a powerful and determined woman.

She is the main character.

Bill Hammond:

Played by Noah Emmerich,

Jane's husband.

We don't see him much in the movie, he's hurt.

Dan Frost:

Played by Joel Edgerton,

Jane's ex lover (first love).

He help Jane to save her family and her house,

but he still love her and he is jealous of Bill.

Here is a scene where Jane asks Dan for help. At the start he refuse, but finally, he appear suddently when Jane is in danger.

And personally, I was so curious to know why he do that for her. It was very kind of him, and in his place, I wouldn't have done the same,

but I don't tell you why.. :)

John Bishop:

Played by Ewan McGregor,

He is the villain of the movie, very bad.

Rodrigo Santoro:

Played by Rodrigo Santoro,

He is really perverse and is a part of the Bishop group

I hightly recommend you the movie because I find it great!

There are love stories and suspense, so I like that and I am interested, the story between Jane and Dan is

very complicated but very cute, and we hope that they can be brought together..

The film is far from boring and sometimes, it was very emotional, so I recommend this movie to you if you like love movies, and action.

I hope you have enjoyed my movie review and go watch Jane Got a Gun  :)
