Bridges in movies and songs (continued)

Let's not forget about two very famous films :

  • The song which comes to my mind when thinking of bridges is a song about friendship called Like a Bridge over Troubled Waters sung by a duo called Simon and Garfunkel in 1970

and in a different style by Aretha Franklin.

Look at the first stanza of the song :

When you’re weary, feeling small, (= quand tu es épuisée, et que tu te sens minable)

"When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all; (quand tes yeux s'empliront de larmes, je les sècherai)

I’m on your side. When times get rough (Je suis de ton côté. Quand les temps seront durs)

And friends just can’t be found, (et que tu ne trouves plus d'amis)

Like a bridge over troubled water (comme un pont sur les eaux tumultueuses)

I will lay me down. (je me baisserai vers toi)

Bridges helps you walk from one side to another, they help connect people. They are a means of communication like English. So let's bridge the gaps between you and me by speaking English !

Aretha Franklin is the best singer. She has a golden voice. When she sings we are taken, she leads us towards a majestic paradise.
